Since its founding in 2002, the Psychology One Program has been more than just an undergraduate course. It has been a training program for graduate students in psychology, as well as advanced undergraduate students with interests in teaching. The program also has provided resources and community for teachers of introductory psychology all over the U.S. and beyond through the Psychology One Program's Annual Psychology One Conference.
Our vision for the program is to provide:
Located in the country's number one psychology department, the Psychology One Program has brought together a team of world-class researchers who are dedicated to world-class teaching. Course faculty collaborate to present a balanced and dynamic portrait of psychology to students across each quarter. Teaching Fellows (TFs) are carefully selected graduate and undergraduate students who are mentored and undergo extensive pedagogical training.
The Psychology One course is offered every quarter and is taken by more than 500 students each year. Our course is designed for students who may major or minor in psychology, but it is also carefully crafted to serve as an important contribution to any liberal arts education. The program aim is to make Psychology One a fulfilling, rewarding, and worthwhile experience for undergraduates, graduates and faculty alike.
The Psychology One Program works closely with a number of campus offices and resources and is supported by the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.
Our vision for the program is to provide:
- A course that offers a consistent, supportive, and enriched undergraduate experience
- A community that scaffolds faculty and graduate students as they develop teaching skills
- A culture in which teaching is fulfilling, and teaching skills are prized
